2am College Musings
So I’ve been at Carnegie Mellon for almost 2 months now, and therefore I haven’t been posting much…hopefully that will begin to change starting right now! Anyways college makes me happy so I’m just going to talk about it for a bit, brace yourselves.
For some reason CMU has a week long orientation, and I can honestly say orientation week was more stressful than any academic week I’ve experienced so far here. And I spent 8 hours at the library yesterday so that’s saying something. Talking to people is hard, making friends is harder, and stressing over finding a good friend group is….sucky. During orientation week I thought I would never find friends, but now 2 months in I somehow have this amazing group of people on my floor that I hang out with all the time and its basically like living with my best friends. Also they’re all doing really cool things with their lives like programming robot snakes, making quadcoptors and writing mathematical proofs that show brawl is equal to sleep. It inspires me to want to do cool things which is cheesy but actually true.
What are these cool things I’m doing you ask?? You probably didn’t ask but I’m excited so I’m going to say anyway. I got hired to develop an app that allows musicians to record and compare their soundwaves to those of professionals to help them practice and I’ve never made an app before but now I’m going to. In other news CMU has a robot orchestra and I’m on the team working to build a ukulele playing robot! Also I’m working on a program that will generate a super smash bros brawl bracket based off of seeding done in a round robin tournament but that is solely for the purpose of my floor’s weekly brawl night.
Wow that was long ok I’m done, I also got the UK version of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix for 4 dollars, its my favorite HP book. Basically college is awesome, especially CMU.
